Everyone knows that Jack Johnson pops up on any possible Pandora station that you make … bluegrass, rock, Top 40, country, heavy metal … whatever.
I think that less people have realized that “Hallelujah” is the same way. That gorgeous song has been covered so many times by so many people, it might be even more prolific than good old Jack.
It’s not terribly uplifting to be looking at 990 tax forms and notice that many of these people who work for a non-profit are making what I hope to earn someday when I have a real job in not only their salaries (I’ll never make that much!), but in their annual bonuses!
Holy moly!
Sometimes I worry that my job as a journalist is not only to convey information to the public, but to make the people that I talk with sound like intelligent human beings.
Even when everything they’ve said to me is in obvious contradiction to that.
So I met up with this great freelance writer for tips about how to pitch stories, write stories, get paid for stories, etc. We chatted for an hour and a half, and I’m now going to be helping him out with some background research.
Overall, the meeting went swimmingly.
I just really hope he wasn’t the guy in the Jeep Wrangler that I almost rammed into upon leaving our coffee shop meeting place.

Not that I’m exactly a pro or anything yet, but it’s in bad journalistic form to ask to interview someone who passed away three years ago … whoops.
I keep trying to convince my wonderful boyfriend that he’s a feminist simply because he believes that women and men deserve equal respect.
My hope though does occasionally waver … like when he describes the problems surrounding “gender rolls.”
